Nature & Wildlife Inspired Art Rousseau’s Jungle Scene – Holiday Art Workshop for Ages 8+ Join us this holiday for a rich and imaginative two-day art workshop, perfect for children aged 8 and up. In this nature-inspired course, young artists will take a deep dive into the enchanting world of Henri Rousseau, exploring his dreamlike jungle paintings filled with lush foliage and curious creatures. Together, we’ll study one of Rousseau’s iconic jungle scenes step by step, learning how he used flat perspective, pattern, and rich colour to bring his imaginary landscapes to life. Children will then be encouraged to build on what they've learned by choosing a material of their choice from a range of media to personalise and complete their own wild and wonderful jungle composition. What to Expect Over two sessions, students will: - Explore Henri Rousseau’s jungle painting through group discussion and guided observation. - Follow a step-by-step process to recreate the core structure of the scene. - Learn how to layer shapes, patterns, and colours to build a bold and stylised composition. - Experiment with a choice of materials – such as oil pastel, paint, coloured pencil, or collage – to complete their artwork in a personal style. - Create a finished jungle scene filled with imaginative creatures and vibrant plant life. This workshop is perfect for children who love art, nature, and storytelling through image-making – encouraging both technical growth and creative freedom in a friendly and supportive setting. Skill Level Tailored for ages 8+, with a focus on developing observational drawing, composition, and creative layout skills.
