Service Description

In this two-session holiday workshop, children will learn how to draw a dog portrait inspired by the work of artist Sally Muir. Using a structured, step-by-step approach, we will break the image down into simple shapes, helping children understand proportion, facial features, and how to build a drawing with confidence. Across the sessions, students will develop their observational skills while exploring mark-making and expressive line, taking inspiration from Muir’s distinctive style. We will then introduce mixed media techniques, allowing children to add colour, texture, and personality to their portraits. The first session will focus on drawing and understanding structure, while the second session will build on this to develop and complete a more finished artwork. Every class is different, so children are welcome to join multiple sessions across the holidays and create a new animal each time. What to bring A drink and small nut-free snack. Please wear warm, messy clothes or bring an apron.
