Service Description

Autumn: Positive & Negative Space Designed for our 8–10 year old Intermediate artists, this two-session workshop explores positive and negative space through an autumn-inspired artwork. Working from seasonal forms such as leaves, branches and natural objects, students will begin with observational drawing before discovering how artists look not only at the subject itself, but also at the shapes and spaces that surround it. Students will develop a composition divided between positive and negative space, experimenting with contrasting colour, shape and pattern to explore how the same image can be interpreted in two different ways. Through drawing, careful planning and a range of materials and techniques, young artists will develop their understanding of composition, balance and contrast while creating a bold finished autumnal artwork.
