Service Description

This holiday, we’re introducing a series of seven observational drawing workshops—one each week. While each session builds on the last to develop skills progressively, they are also designed as standalone workshops, so children can join whichever themes interest them. Each session focuses on a new subject, allowing young artists to explore a range of ideas while developing a strong foundation in drawing and composition. The sixth workshop in the series explores Let’s Go to the Seaside: Summer Still Life In this session, children will work from a beach-inspired still life, featuring buckets, spades, shells, towels, and seaside games. The set-up will be bright and playful, encouraging students to explore a variety of shapes, textures, and colours. Students will focus on capturing form, proportion, and the relationship between objects, while exploring how to arrange a balanced and engaging composition. There will be a strong emphasis on observation, grouping objects, and creating a sense of depth within the scene. Working with acrylic paint, children will explore techniques such as layering, colour mixing, and brushwork to build bold and vibrant compositions. They will learn how to block in shapes, develop detail, and use colour to bring energy and clarity to their work. This workshop is ideal for children who enjoy colourful, expressive painting and want to build confidence in observational work. Suitable for both beginners and those looking to refine their skills, it offers an engaging and accessible approach to working from life. By the end of the session, each participant will have created a vibrant seaside still life, developing their understanding of composition, colour, and form through observational work. Spaces are limited—early booking is recommended. Knowledge Required Beginner-friendly. What You'll Get All equipment and materials provided.
