Service Description
Royal Academy Fred Cummings Inspired Moody Landscapes | Soft Pastels This holiday children are invited to explore the atmosphere and beauty of landscape art in this immersive two-session workshop inspired by Royal Academy artist Fred Cummings, and the people who inspired him. Led by Izzy, our head teacher, this workshop is perfect for young artists who enjoy expressive, hands-on drawing. Across the two sessions, children will create moody, atmospheric landscapes using soft pastels. Taking inspiration from Cummings' work, they will explore how to build depth, capture changing light, and use colour to evoke mood and atmosphere within their artwork. Students will be guided through key pastel techniques, including layering, blending, and mark-making. They will learn how to build up rich surfaces, create tonal contrast, and use expressive gestures to bring their landscapes to life. This workshop is ideal for children who enjoy tactile, process-led art making, have an interest in landscapes, and want to build confidence in drawing and colour. Suitable for both beginners and those looking to refine their skills, the sessions provide a supportive and inspiring environment to explore and experiment. By the end of the two sessions, each participant will have created their own atmospheric pastel landscape, developing a deeper understanding of colour, light, and composition. Spaces are limited—early booking is recommended. Knowledge Required Beginner-friendly. What You'll Get All equipment and materials provided. What to Bring A bottle of water and a small nut-free snack. Old clothes and dress warmly. Session Repeats This class series runs over 2 consecutive afternoons.
