Autumn Still Life: Gouache Painting Celebrate the rich colours and textures of the season in this two-session workshop inspired by the still life paintings of Francisco de Zurbarán. Working from a carefully arranged collection of autumn vegetables, students will begin with observational drawing before learning how to paint confidently with gouache. Taking inspiration from Zurbarán's dramatic use of light, carefully balanced compositions and beautifully observed forms, we'll explore colour mixing, brush control, tonal values and the relationship between light and shadow to create striking still life paintings. Participants will develop their observational skills while learning how artists use light, colour and composition to bring everyday objects to life. This workshop encourages careful looking alongside confident painting techniques, helping young artists create expressive, well-observed still life studies.
